About Us

Rajmala Welfare Society (RWS) is a trans‑led, community-based organisation established in 2013 (Registration No. 713) to advance the rights, wellbeing, and social protection of transgender and gender‑diverse communities in India. Founded and governed by community leaders, RWS works at the intersection of health, social justice, and human dignity, ensuring that individuals facing exclusion, discrimination, and destitution have access to compassionate, rights‑affirming support.

RWS delivers holistic, community‑driven interventions that address the structural and everyday challenges faced by transgender persons and socially vulnerable populations. Our work spans crisis response, access to health and gender‑affirming services, livelihood and skills development, legal aid facilitation, and pathways to social protection. Guided by lived experience and grounded in community wisdom, RWS prioritises those most marginalised and ensures that services are accessible, stigma‑free, and rooted in dignity.

Over the past decade, RWS has supported thousands of individuals through direct services, advocacy, and community mobilisation. We collaborate with civil society organisations, local governance bodies, and community networks to strengthen systems of care and build inclusive environments where transgender and gender‑diverse people can thrive. Evidence, accountability, and community leadership remain central to our approach as we work to create lasting, structural change.

Mission

A society where every transgender and gender‑diverse person lives with dignity, safety, and full inclusion.

Vision

To empower transgender and socially vulnerable communities through rights‑based, community‑led interventions that promote dignity, wellbeing, and equitable access to opportunities.

OBJECTIVES

Rajmala Welfare Society advances community‑led, rights‑affirming support for transgender and gender‑diverse people by ensuring access to health and gender‑affirming services, strengthening livelihoods, expanding social protection, building inclusive environments, and driving evidence‑based advocacy rooted in dignity, equity, and community leadership. We work alongside communities to address everyday and structural barriers, offering compassionate, stigma‑free pathways to safety, wellbeing, and opportunity. Through partnerships, community mobilisation, and lived‑experience leadership, RWS strengthens systems of care and drives long‑term change so every person can live with respect, fairness, and full inclusion.

RWS is grounded in the belief that every person deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to shape their own future. Our values of inclusivity, empowerment, transparency, dignity, and community ownership guide everything we do. We centre transgender communities, PLHIV, and other marginalised groups through an intersectional health and social justice lens—ensuring that individuals can access legal aid, healthcare linkages, counselling, crisis support, and gender affirming pathways without fear, stigma, or discrimination. By creating safe, affirming, and rights based spaces, we uphold the inherent worth of every individual and strengthen their ability to thrive.

As a nationalised community based organisation with the capacity to work pan India, RWS champions community leadership as the foundation of sustainable change. We collaborate closely with local leaders, volunteers, youth groups, and networks to co design programmes that reflect lived experience and community wisdom. Transparency and shared responsibility shape our decision making, ensuring accountability and ethical practice across all interventions. Through collective action, open communication, and a deep commitment to equity, RWS nurtures resilience and builds systems that uplift individuals and strengthen communities across diverse contexts.
